People living with cancer have enough to worry about, so adding symptoms like nausea, vomiting and pain from chemotherapy seems like an extra slap to the face. Whether cancer patients go through chemotherapy, or surgery, they often have side effects that cause their way of life to suffer.  It could be they are fatigued, or they can’t eat, or they feel week, or any number of problems that worsen somebodies way of life. There is positive news though for patients going through these situations.Acupuncture has been shown to help patients recover from the side effects of surgery and chemotherapy.  Note that acupuncture does not treat cancer itself, and you should be weary of anybody that says otherwise, however, acupuncture does treat patients suffering with cancer.  Using it in conjunction with standard care is a great approach to regaining health and wellness quicker.

What acupuncture has been shown to do is help patients suffering with nausea, vomiting and weight loss due to chemotherapy treatments recover quicker and with less symptoms than those that undergo chemotherapy by itself.  It is not a replacement for chemotherapy, however it can greatly improve recovery and can get the patient back to normal quicker.

With surgery, there is often pain associated with it, and acupuncture has been shown in many studies to help with pain reduction.  Studies have shown that acupuncture before surgery and again after surgery can cause shorter recovery time, less pain, and less complications.

I again want to emphasise that acupuncture is not a cure for cancer, but what it does do is help people get back on their feet with less symptoms and less pain.
Acupuncture for treating cancer pain and chemotherapy induced nausea and vomiting are some of the things that the World Health Organization agree can be beneficial for people to try if they are indeed suffering from cancer and chemotherapy side effects.
