Car accidents are unfortunately common, and it’s highly likely that you or somebody you know has been in a car accident within the last few years, whether it was your fault or somebody else’s.

When people are injured from a car accident, they often visit their doctor as they should, but then they often go visit a chiropractor to adjust their neck or wherever is bothering them.  And again, they should do this if necessary.  However, people generally don’t think about using acupuncture when they are injured in a car accident.

Common injuries from car accidents range from whiplash, sore muscles, back injuries, traumatic brain injury, or any other injury in between.  It is also common that people do not feel pain associated with their accident at the scene, but rather it is the next day, or the next week in which the pain comes to you.  That is why you will often hear people thinking they are fine when they leave the scene of the accident, but a few days later claim to be in horrible pain.

Acupuncture is most commonly known for helping people with pain.  Acupuncture has been used for thousands of years in treating conditions such as whiplash and back pain with great success, and with lasting effects.  Acupuncture not only can help with diminishing or taking away the pain associated with the accident, but it can also help you regain strength quicker if you have lost some, and increase your range of motion if you are feeling stuck or rigid.  Limited range of motion is usually prevalent in whiplash patients or shoulder injury patients from car accidents, and acupuncture has been shown to help those conditions very well.

If you’ve recently been in a car accident, you know that the pain you may have might be slowing you down a little bit, or preventing you from performing at your optimal level.  Whether that is at work, school, or with your hobbies, being injured, even slightly, can change the way you perform tasks that you normally wouldn’t think twice about.

Acupuncture is great at helping people get back to where they need to be.  Often times in cases of car accidents, working with an acupuncturist, chiropractor, and massage therapist all together is a great way to get back on your feet the quickest.

In most states, the victim of a car accident is afforded health coverage or Personal Injury Protection in the case of an accident.  The victim is afforded the opportunity to seek out medical treatment as they see fit in most cases, and that includes visits to your doctor, chiropractor, or acupuncturist.  The treatments will then be covered by the opposing driver’s car insurance, which will allow you to seek the treatment you need without paying money out of your pocket.

I would urge those that have been in an accident, or know somebody that has been in an accident to think about adding acupuncture into their medical treatment plan, as it can be very helpful in recovery, and is a gentle form of treatment.

Feel free to call with any questions if you have been in an accident, and I will do my best to help answer them for you.  Or better yet, come in an receive a free consultation and we can discuss if acupuncture is right for you, and how acupuncture can be used to help you.

Be Well,

Michael
